After graduating in chemistry, John followed a career at Shell, mainly personnel roles. Following early retirement in 1990 he studied and took up counselling as a second career, followed up with a qualification in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.
Currently he treats clients at the Kaleidoscope Drugs Centre in Kingston and works from home in private practice.
John also worked as a mediator with Kingston Friends Mediation.
He is married with three children, plays the violin in a ceilidh band and the Kingston Philharmonia. John also enjoys golf, bridge and gardening.
John studied counselling at the Central School of Counselling and Therapy and at Kensington Consultation Centre (both individual and family courses).
His diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy was awarded by Uncommon Knowledge.
John is a member of the Hypnotherapy Association, a Human Givens Institute member, a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners and a Practioner Member of the National Smoking Cessation Institute.
He regularly attends training courses, reads widely about therapy and hypnotherapy and meets a colleague with whom he discusses case studies.
